When I was 11 years old, I went to my first live football game.
My Boys Brigade leader was an instructor at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He secured tickets to the football game versus Army and took a bunch of very excited 5th and 6th grade boys from church.
When Army scored, canons were fired in the end zone. When Air Force scored, all the cadets did pushups in the other end zone.
It was a thrilling game and when Air Force finally won in the end, we stormed the field with thousands of other fans. I will never forget the feeling of being on that field with my friends and my youth leader from church, who at that point was the coolest person on the planet.
That feeling is what Youth Ministry is all about.
Our vision is to become a community of friends, encountering the living Christ, growing in grace, while loving God and serving others.
We exist to bring teens one step closer to God, one person at a time.
Our goal is to create an environment where youth have the opportunity to grow closer to God and closer to each other, thereby obeying the greatest commandments. (Mark 12:29-31)
We also want to challenge the youth to live a life of service to Christ and be committed to sharing the gospel with others, thereby obeying the Great Commission. (Matt.28:18-20)
We are a purpose-driven youth ministry that believes the five purposes of youth ministry are: Worship, Fellowship, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Ministry.
We also value having fun.
We value team ministry.
We value prayer. Prayer must have primary importance for everything we do.
