Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3
The purpose of GROW classes is to provide a place to belong and a path to follow for everyone to experience greater intimacy with Jesus Christ.
This is why we've connected the image of a fruitful tree with GROW classes. It's a biblical image of what a person formed by God's word is like. Each GROW class encompasses all aspects of GROW: God's Word, Relationships, Obedient Living and a Worshipful Life, yet each class has one theme that predominates. You can use the following images as a guide to help you choose which class is best for you.
God's Word: This is the root system that anchors us; the important stuff that we need to know. Growing in God's Word is essential for us to flourish. Classes that emphasize God's Word are represented by the roots.
Relationship: Relationships help us grow. As a plant matures it reaches higher and outward. We share life with one another as branches connected to the same vine. Classes that emphasize our relationships with others are represented by branches.
Obedient Living: This is how God is at work in us as we respond to the gospel. As leaves of a plant take in the light for essential energy, so our obedience depends on God's help. Classes that emphasize obedient living are represented by the leaves.
Worshipful Life: This is how God is at work in us to help others. The fruit of the plant nourishes others or starts a new plant. As we bear fruit we find our place in the kingdom of God. Classes that emphasize how our lives express our love of God and others are represented by fruit.
